Explanation & Effective Date of Newly Controlled Product of Vietnam- ICT (Safety) & MEPS(Energy Efficiency)
Vietnam has recently issued new requirements and regulations for safety and energy efficiency, and also added new controlled products. Please refer to the following information of the relevant regulations:
Vietnam- ICT
MIC ICT's certification requirements include wireless, safety and EMC, and the assessment requirements vary depending on the product.
It must be sent directly to a designated laboratory in Vietnam for testing, or to the MRA national laboratory recognized by the Vietnam MIC for testing. Testing and certification are based on the national technical standard QCVN, which published by MIC.
The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam (MOST) has newly announced that new national technical standards will be implemented, including RF, EMC & Safety.
The latest safety testing standard is QCVN 132:2022/BTTTT, which is based on IEC 62368-1:2018 and will be mandatory from January 1, 2024.
All applications must be made in laboratories officially accredited by the Vietnam Laboratory Accreditation Agency (BOA). The following are mandatory products and applicable standards:
Vietnam- MEPS (The minimum energy performance standard)
The Vietnam Energy Efficiency Mark is a compulsory certification promulgated and implemented by the
Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Vietnam.
It was implemented on July 1, 2013. All mandatory products listed below must pass the test to obtain
a certificate and affix the energy label. Only products with an energy label can be sold in the market,
and all applications must send samples to a laboratory designated by MOIT to do complete
testing (Local Test).
MOIT issued Decision No. 14/2023/QD-TTg on May 24th, 2023,
mainly to replace the original Decision No. 24/2018/QD-TTg issued in May 2018,
and it has officially came into effect on July 15th, 2023.
In the past, energy-saving products were mostly controlled on household appliances or electric motors.
In addition to adding new products to the list, this decision aims to eliminate low-efficiency equipment
and prohibited development and application of inefficient generator sets.
The mandatory date is April 1st, 2025. The following are the effective dates for the new application
standards (TCVN) and some new standards for home offices and commercial appliances:
