2026/06/03 BIS CRS Registration and Renewal Regulation Update (5-Year Validity Period)

We would like to inform you that, according to the latest announcement from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the validity period of the initial BIS certificate has been extended from 2 years to 5 years.
As a result, manufacturers applying for a new BIS registration or renewal in the future will be able to obtain a registration certificate with a validity period of 5 years.
Although the validity period has been extended to 5 years, manufacturers are still required to pay the applicable grant or renewal fees annually in order to maintain the validity of their registration.
Key Highlights:
◤ BIS registration validity has been increased to 5 years.
◤ Manufacturers can renew the R-number only for 5 years.
◤ Every year, manufacturers are required to submit production data along with the applicable annual fees.
◤ BIS will allow manufacturers to complete the annual renewal process in advance, before the prescribed due date.
As this policy has only just been implemented, the relevant execution details are not yet fully clear, and the implementation procedures may still be subject to further adjustments.
